The user stories that are assigned to the Features can be added to the program board either in the Calendar view or in the List view modes. The following steps allow you to add the user stories to the program board.
Step 1: Choose the view of the program board to add the user stories.
Step 2: Click on the drop down box which is placed next to the program name on the top left corner. Choose the program increment for which the stories are to be added.
Step 3: Click on the ‘Features’ drop down button which is placed at the top right corner of the window.
Step 4: All the Features belonging to the Program Increment will be listed down. The features which do not have any user stories associated will be disabled. You can identify such features with the help of the number displayed just below the feature. If it’s a zero then there are no user stories associated with the feature.
Step 5: A feature may contain more than one story. Choose the feature for which the story needs to be added to the board. Click on the expandable button that you can find below every feature listed.
Step 6: All the user stories associated with the feature will be displayed. Click on the user story and drag it onto the program board.
Step 7: Place it at the appropriate starting day displayed along with the date belonging to the sprint and extend it till the chosen end date.
4.Creating Dependencies using the Program Board
We can also create dependencies among the user stories. In case if one or more user stories are related and are dependent on each other, then we can create dependencies amongst them using the Program Board.
Step 1: Go to the Calendar view in the Program board. Choose the Program Increment to view the list of user stories in that sprint.
Step 2: Hover on the user story and observe the blue dot that appears beneath the user story. Clicking on the dot will highlight the user story indicating it’s ready to get linked to the other dependent user stories.
Step 3: To make a link, hover on any other user story. A dotted line will appear to the highlighted user story. Clicking on the dotted line will make a link between the two user stories.
This will create a dependency between the user stories in the Program board.
